If you want to authenticate a US document to use in foreign countries, you will need either Consulate Authentication or Apostille:

Apostille: For all Hague Apostille Convention member counties (including most western countries), an Apostille is all you will need. An Apostille is a specialized certificate issued by the Secretary of State, which is used to verify a document is legitimate and authentic. An apostille will be accepted in one of the other countries who are members of the Hague Apostille Convention.

State secretary certification: For non Hague Apostille Convention member countries, you will need State secretary certification first, then bring this certification to a foreign consulate for further authentication. If you want to apply for a Chinese Consulate authentication, please refer to our webpage: https://www.americantranslationservice.com/e_authentication.html
